The Mitcham Football Club first awarded Honorary Life Membership in 1949. The award was introduced to recognise the outstanding contribution of those players, officials, support staff, trainers and administrators who had given exceptional service to the club. It is regarded as the highest honour the club can bestow upon an individual.
